First Kids Christian Cooperative Preschool is open
Monday through Friday. Class times are from 9:00am to 11:50 am. Extended care is available from 7:00am to 6:00pm.
Classes Offered
Toddler Class (18-35 months of age)
Toddlers meet Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 9:00am to 11:50am
This class is modeled after Ohio's Infant and Toddler Guidelines as it pertains to the child's Emotional, Social, Motor, Language and Cognitive development. The purpose of this class is to expose toddlers to a wide range of experiences in a safe, loving atmosphere shared with other children of the same age. While children are introduced to colors, shapes, sounds, textures, nature and art, they are encouraged to communicate with their words and engage in mutual social play with other children. Children will experience growth intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Preschool Class (Children 3-4 years of age who will not be starting kindergarten the following school year)
Preschool is offered:
2 days a week - Tuesday & Thursday or
3 days a week - Monday, Wednesday & Friday
Class starts at 9:00am and is dismissed at 11:50am
The preschool curriculum is based on the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards. First Kids Preschool utilizes the Creative Curriculum approach where children learn through play and activities designed to teach and be fun at the same time. Children in the preschool class are introduced to letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make, numbers, shapes, colors, the calendar, seasons, weather, math and science. Children also learn to observe nature, inquire about their surroundings and interact with their peers through social and cooperative activities. Fine and large motor skills are developed both in the classroom and during recess. Early writing and literacy skills are introduced and practiced. Bible themes and characters are also used in lessons throughout the year. Guest speakers and field trips are utilized to introduce children to new experiences and reinforce lessons.
Pre-Kindergarten Class (Children 4-5 years of age who will be starting kindergarten the following school year)
Pre-Kindergarten is offered:
2 days a week - Tuesday & Thursday
Class starts at 8:30am and is dimissed at noon
3 days a week - Monday, Wednesday & Friday
Class starts at 9:00am and is dismissed at 11:50am
5 days a week - Monday through Friday
Class starts at 9:00am and is dismissed at 11:50 am
The pre-kindergarten curriculum is based on the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards and the Ohio Department of Education Preparing for Kindergarten Guidelines. Pre-Kindergarten offers a more structured class environment with a greater emphasis on academic skills in preparation for attending kindergarten the following year. Children attending this class should be able to sit for longer periods of time and listen to and follow directions. Children attending this class should already be showing some interest in letters, numbers, books and counting. First Kids pre-kindergarten program offers a loving, joyful environment with the intent of fostering an early love for learning.
A typical pre-kindergarten day will include learning centers, calendar, weather and season observation, story time, music, Bible lesson, large motor activity, handwriting, group lesson/table work (shapes, letters and their sounds, numbers and math, science, colors) art/craft and free play with peers. Guest speakers and field trips are utilized to introduce children to new experiences and reinforce lessons.
Children who attend 5 days a week will receive instruction with an additional emphasis on math and science. These students will also be able to receive one on one assistance with language and writing skills.
Extended Day Care
Extended day care is available from 7:00am to 9:00am and from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. Extended day care is available at a weekly/monthly rate or an hourly rate of $4.25 per hour for drop ins.
Drop in hours are only available as space allows and when 24 hour notice is given to the preschool.
Extended day care hours are not available for Toddler aged children at this time.
Students in extended care will participate in activities structured to reinforce the lessons of the preschool day. Bible study and free play will also be included.
Students who stay for late pick up must pack a nutritious and well balanced lunch.
